Eddie Reyes is a composer, guitarist, and pianist whose work spans musical theatre, jazz, flamenco, orchestral, pop, rock, film, television, and commercials.

He wrote the music and lyrics for Tesla, An Elektrical Spectacle (teslamusical.com), a musical inspired by the life of the great inventor Nikola Tesla, and is currently at work on a new show, When Worlds Collide, a meditation on the moment two strangers recognize each other — and the irreversible choice that follows — told across three love stories spanning two centuries and one possible future.

His other original theatre work includes A Beating Heart (new.doriangraythemusical.org), his musical adaptation of Oscar Wilde's The Picture of Dorian Gray; The Circus of Dr. Lao, optioned for Broadway; the original musical Esperanza; and songs for musical adaptations of Arsenic and Old Lace, Double Indemnity, and The Bridge of San Luis Rey, along with numerous individual songs and special material for cabaret artists.

In film and television, Reyes contributed music to two of David Milch's HBO series, Deadwood and John from Cincinnati, and to the feature film The Painting. Early in his career in New York, he composed a significant portion of the orchestral and jazz underscore for the Academy Award-nominated Blue Velvet. His other film credits include Lulu, Missing You, Myron's Movie, The Chair, Shell Shock, and Showtime's The Fires Within. His music served as the on-air theme for PBS's Great Performances for many years, as well as the IMAX logo for National Geographic 

A seasoned performer on guitar and piano with a specialty in flamenco guitar, Reyes composed and produced the world jazz album Lost World, built around percussion instruments drawn from sacred ceremonial traditions. The record blends Afro-Caribbean and flamenco influences with jazz cultivated in New York, Miami, and Los Angeles, layered with textures from the Middle East, the Balkans, India, and the Celtic highlands.

As a composer, orchestrator, and conductor, Reyes has scored and produced music for numerous commercials and film trailers — from conducting a 65-piece orchestra for Thomas and the Magic Railroad to laying down grunge and acoustic guitar textures for China Strike Force, starring Coolio. He is a Telly Award winner for his score to Blue Planet Run and a Clio Award winner for the Coca-Cola campaign "Contraption."
